Californian garage rock band Allah-Las‘ gig in Rotterdam in the Netherlands was abruptly cancelled last night after Spanish authorities warned the Dutch police of a possible terror plot targeting music venue Maassilo.
The venue was evacuated before the gig started because of an “unspecified threat“. Band members were accompanied from the venue by police escort.
Their label Mexican Summer released a statement: “The band is unharmed and are very grateful to the Rotterdam police and other responsible agencies for detecting the potential threat before anyone was hurt.”
Two men have been arrested so far, including a 22-year-old taken into custody today. Another man, a possibly drunk repairman, driving a Spanish-registered white van which contained gas canisters was also arrested last night – although his van contained nothing suss beyond the canisters themselves. He is not believed to be a suspect in inquiries.
Spanish authorities have said it is unlikely there was any connection between the threat and the attacks that took place last week in Barcelona and Cambrils.
It is not known what the exact threat was, or if it was in connection to the band’s name.
Allah-Las’ scheduled show in Poland tonight is still set to take place, albeit with heightened security.
