Nicki Minaj’s Old High School Doesn’t Want Her Back

Earlier this week, anaconda-wrangler and terrifying real-life cartoon character Nicki Minaj was a little put out when her offer to go back and lay some inspiration on students at her old alma mater – New York’s Fiorello H. La Guardia High School – was rejected.

The ‘High School’ rapper was upset that she wouldn’t be able to pay it forward to students at La Guardia, which is a so well-known for its performing arts program that the ’80s musical and Glee-predecessor Fame was reportedly based on it.

Twitter quickly jumped to Minaj’s defense, concerned that the school were scarlet lettering the rapper and unfairly denying her access to its young and possibly dangerous minds. Some students even played ‘Anaconda’ in the halls in protest.

The real reason, however, might be a little more mundane. The New York Times report that, after considering Minaj’s request, the Department of Education denied it because MTV had asked to film her appearance, and they felt the camera crew would prove a distraction for students.
The school claim that they offered Minaj the opportunity to speak to students on a weekend instead, but she declined for scheduling reasons, and did not offer any further comment to the Times.
Nonetheless, the Rate My Teacher page for La Guardia principal Lisa Mars has taken a hell of a hit. She currently holds across-the-board low ratings in categories such as ‘Helpfulness’ and ‘Textbook Use’, and feedback includes:
You ruined one of the most sensual experience of me looking and maybe touching Onika Maraj’s feminine attributes.
