New Albert Hammond Jr.

Albert Hammond Jr’s Sophomore album ¿Cómo Te Llama? (How do you say it? My pronunciation of the inverted questions mark ain’t so good) coincided pretty well with the courtship of his new lady friend who just so happens to be (As Carles would say) another Highly Bloggable Alt-Celeb – ubiquitous model of the moment Agyness Deyn. Either the world’s looking up for the guy or his PR machine has improved vastly since advising Fab to constantly wear double denim…

I like to think that every time a music/fashion power couple get together a soul in limbo ascends to Heaven, but that’s just me.

Anyway Hammond Jr’s first single from the album “GfC” is all spritely picked riffs interspersed with a detached drawl reminiscent of Julian’s down the telephone delivery. It is surprisingly uumm less shit than I thought it would be, good in fact, buoyant pop sensibilities abounding. Hammond Jr’s talent extends beyond bone dry rhythm guitar and thrift store shopping after all. The film clip sans girlfriend cameo is below…
