Lorde is Having Precisely None of that Iggy Azalea Beef

A few weeks back, Iggy Azalea said that she didn’t feel like Lorde‘s recent Nirvana tribute was worthy of Kurt Cobain – a taunt that essentially amounted to a cheerleader “accidentally” walking into the weird goth kid in the cafeteria and sending french fries and chocolate milk flying from her tray before saying a passive-aggressive “sorry”.

Rather than put a hex on Azalea, or even just flip out and blacken her eye, Lorde chose to respond in sensible, grown-up fashion – which, in a way, is almost worse. When asked about her appearance at Nirvana’s Hall Of Fame induction by Confidential, she responded “I enjoyed it. I had a good time. That’s all that mattered.”

When pressed for a response to Iggy Azalea’s taunt, the singer replied “I’ve been in a position where I’ve said something in an interview where I’ve thought: “Damn, I wish I could take that back.” I don’t know how (Iggy) is feeling about it. But anyone who’s doing well deserves respect, and I respect what she’s doing.”

So there you have it. Behind a bleacher somewhere, Iggy Azalea is rolling her eyes and telling her friends “ugh, that Lorde thinks she’s so mature.”

Iggy still has the number one and two songs on the US charts, while Lorde is over her chest infection and has promised “insane dancing” on her upcoming Australian tour, which means both will probably be okay for now.
