Lorde Accuses Kanye & Kid Cudi Of Stealing Her ‘Melodrama’ Stage Design

After Kid Cudi and Kanye West played their first official show as Kids See Ghosts, closing out Camp Flog Gnaw in Los AngelesLorde swiftly took to Instagram to accuse the duo of stealing the set design from her ‘Melodrama‘ world tour earlier this year.

If you’ve seen footage from the last set of the day at Tyler, The Creator‘s massive festival at Dodger Stadium on the weekend, Kid Cudi and Kanye performed from inside a massive glass box above the stage, kind of like a huge see-through shipping container suspended at least three metres above everything. Check out the video below from inside and outside of the box.

But then it suddenly feels eerily familiar. Looking at Lorde’s setup from her Melodrama world tour earlier this year where she had a long glass/perspex box that she and a troupe of dancers performed in, there’s some seriously similar vibes here. You know, with the whole big transparent box suspended in the air thing. No doubt about it. Very much the same.

Lorde compared the pair on her Instagram story this morning, finally ending with a photo from her tour, and the demanded people do not steal from others, especially women.

I’m proud of the work I do and it’s flattering when other artists feel inspired by it, to the extent that they choose to try it on themselves. But don’t steal — not from women or anyone else — not in 2018 or ever.

It’s not clear whether Lorde will be taking further legal action against Kid Cudi and Kanye for using the same stage design without formally asking, but we’ll keep you updated on that one.
