Considering the recent spate of dancefloor-leaning festival announcements, it was about time we heard from the opposing spectrum of Australia’s Summer festival circuit. To wit, St Jerome’s Laneway Festival have just announced the dates and venues for their 2011 offering with stops in the laneways and faux-laneways of Auckland, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Perth. No word yet on the acts they’ll be wrangling but with the likes of Echo & The Bunnymen, Florence and The Machine, Black Lips, The XX and Wild Beasts appearing last year, it should be a delicate mix of nostalgia inducing classics, next big things and left field weirdos.
