Exclusive: Watch Empire of The Sun’s First Show Of New World Tour

Empire Of The Sun, the duo tasked in both the making of anthemic dance-pop and the wearing of flamboyant hats, are only just returning to the game proper.

Without a release since 2008, all but obliterated themselves onto one of the more ostentatious planets of our solar system to live alternative lives forevermore. Ha, alas they did not. Last month they dropped the video for single track “Alive” lifted from the imminently-released Ice on The Dune (June 18). The video confirmed that they weren’t about to stray from their theatrics anytime soon.
Now, we see how this translates into live performance, with this video from Electric Daisy Carnival featuring Luke Steele (but not, as far as we can tell, Steele’s EOTS partner the one million dollar man, Nick Littlemore) in nothing short of Mayan headpieces, robotic swordfish and walking skulls catapulting smoke across the stage.

The affair that played host to predominantly DJ’s (Calvin Harris, Afrojack, Steve Angello) was their first live show as part of tour for the new record. The live band is doing it local in Sydney this weekend for Vivid Live (May 30 & 31), where both shows are sold out (erm, sorry about that). But direct via the Electric Daisy Carnival, this here is a fine illustration:

These dancers swathing around in their crimson reportedly changed outfits almost every song.
