Diplo mostly does things that have nothing to do with how good looking he is – producer, DJ, Blackberry spokesman, party starter, label boss, philanthropist, regional sounds explorer, whatever. Then, sometimes, he does things that have everything to do with how good looking he is. Exhibit A: these images from his debut modeling gig for Alexander Wang’s basics line T by Alexander Wang. Shot by Daniel Jackson and styled by Alastair McKimm the ad also features gap-toothed Texan Ashley Smith who tries, successfully we think, to soften the baller interpretative hands thing Diplo has going on. According to an interview with style.com Wang wanted someone “at the peak of what they do in music” which would explain why we’re not looking at a picture of Rivers Cuomo right now.
