Coming To America With Oh Mercy

After taking home Red Bull’s Award for Outstanding Potential at the 2009 AMP Awards, Melbourne quartet Oh Mercy took their $15,000 novelty cheque to America where they battled through SXSW, paid a visit to Snoop Dogg and made the crucial distinction between Perez and Paris Hilton. They also waved a fistful of dollar dollar bills y’all aka “mad cash” in a Texas hotel room. We know this to be true because we watched the video below which documents their jaunt through America.

The money also allowed principal songwriter Alexander Gow to write and demo material for the band’s as-yet-untitled sophomore album which is to be recorded in Los Angeles with super Producer Mitchell Froom (Crowded House, Elvis Costello and Paul McCartney).
