The Presets Are Replacing Chromeo After Canadian Duo Drop Out Of SITG

Splendour In The Grass has had its first line-up re-shuffle as Chromeo unexpectedly cancel their upcoming visit to Australia due to “the rigours of touring schedule” catching up to them.

The Canadian duo has been told to rest, putting their personal health before their professional musical lives, a decision that is definitely not easy for creative party people like David Macklovitch and Patrick Gemayel to make. But doctor’s orders are not to be ignored, especially when burning out is the only other option.

Chromeo released a statement about their decision to cancel the big gig down under (including both sideshows in Sydney and Melbourne).

To our funkateers & chromettes in Australia,

We are truly sorry to announce that our upcoming July shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Splendour In The Grass have been cancelled. It’s been so long since we’ve visited you last and we were so excited to play for you. Unfortunately, the rigors of our touring schedule have caught up with us and we need to prioritize our health and wellbeing. We’re being told that this period would be best served as a time to rest. This was not an easy call to make. We hope you understand. Please know that we’re doing everything we can to reschedule our time in Australia. We will see you all soon.

Lots of love,
Dave and Pee

If you’ve picked up tickets to their headline shows in Syd and Melb, both Oztix and Ticketek have confirmed that your tickets will be refunded back onto the card you bought ’em with – it might just take a couple of weeks to process.

But it’s not all bad news, folks! Never one to leave a gaping hole in the middle of a stacked line-up, the Splendour team have been very busy bees and pulled a bunch of strings to replace Chromeo’s spot on the bill with another duo that is full of fun and good boogie tunes to keep you moving. That’s right, it’s our very own masters of the dancefloor, The Presets.

Julian Hamilton and Kim Moyes will be donning their best party attire for a very special set in the North Byron Parklands later on this month and tbh there’s nobody else I’d rather see storm the stage like these two. If their live shows following the release of their latest album HI VIZ, their inclusion on the Splendour stage is going to be one *huge* vibe.
