If you’ve been paying attention to Donald Glover‘s virtually lifeless social media channels, you’ll have noticed that last week the creative powerhouse sent out one lone tweet – a link to his new app PHAROS Earth.

Because life isn’t fair and everything is bullshit, the app isn’t available to download in Australia. From what we can gather, it essentially takes you on a journey through space, arriving at a mysterious countdown that played music when you clicked on it.
Given that Glover – a.k.a. rap god Childish Gambino – has two new projects in the works (his hotly anticipated new TV show Atlanta, and a new album), speculation was rife about what the countdown meant. We don’t mean to get dramatic here, but it was Lost Season 1 all over again. WHAT DO THE NUMBERS MEAN, etc.
And look, the reviews didn’t help.
At last, however, the countdown has completed, and the mystery as been resolved.
NEW MUSIC FROM CHILDISH GAMBINO IS DROPPING IN SEPTEMBER, Y’ALL.
FINALLY BUT NOW I WAIT EVEN MORE #pharos #pharosearth pic.twitter.com/bglKmHxd12

Details are scarce as shit, but it looks like Gambino will be unveiling his first full project since 2013’s Because the Internet at or by Joshua Tree on September 2–4.
For all our American friends, tickets go on sale June 24.
