Arctic Monkeys Release New Track, ‘Brick By Brick’

Arctic Monkeys certainly know how to maximise their downtime.

Sheffield’s finest dropped a gorgeously retro video for their new track, ‘Brick By Brick’, yesterday, which focuses on a spinning record for most of the clip before a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it montage lets fans know exactly what Alex Turner and his lads get up to when they’re not recording. This may include going to the beach, smoking, pushing the limits of studio volume meters and hanging around on California highways.

More importantly, it’s brand new Arctic Monkeys, the first since 2009’s Humbug, recorded with Queens Of The Stone Age‘s Josh Homme and James Ford of Simian Mobile Disco fame. We know that because the clever lads over at Stereogum managed to do a screen grab of one of the fast-moving shots to a studio card, which lists the date as February 2011.

Longtime fans will be happy to know that Turner still sounds inherently British despite the ungainly amount of time his band have spend over in the States in the past few years. Fasionistas and pervs will by unhappy to know that Turner’s girlfriend, Alexa Chung does not feature in this video. Not even for a second.
