History indicates that the best way for a model to segue her career from the fashion industry to the music industry is to date a boy in a band. Kate Moss dated Pete Doherty and ended up singing backup on “Fuck Forever”, Agyness Deyn dated Albert Hammond Jr from the Strokes and released a single (see bottom video), Karen Elson is of course the wife of Jack White and has just made a lovely record – after starting out singing and shaking a tamborine in cabaret troupe The Citizens Band, and the latest top model to join the ranks of the model-turned-musician hyphenated society might just be Melbourne-born hellraiser Abbey Lee.
Abbey Lee is currently dating fellow Melbourne-bred Brooklyn-residing muso Matthew Hutchinson of band Our Mountain – formerly known as Kings of Leon covers band Whiskey Go Go’s. The word on the street is that Abbey Lee joins the band onstage to play tambourine, so if you’re in New York this Thursday you should go check it out at Pianos (158 Ludlow Street New York, NY 10002) and see if the girl’s got rhythm.
