‘Fortnite’ King Ninja Accuses Drake Of Using Him To Reach A New Audience

Remember when Canadian rapper Drake jumped onto TylerNinjaBlevin‘s Fortnite stream? Of course you do, it broke all sorts of Twitch viewership records for Ninja, the platform, and, as it turns out, there was plenty in it for Drake, too.

During a recent stream, Ninja began talking about Drake’s new line of merch, adding that the sessions played together could have simply been a clever tactic on Drake’s part.

“Is he gonna buy my next line of Ninja merch?” Ninja said, during a match. “Or my Ninja headband? Probably not. I feel like Drake saw that I was up-and-coming in the gaming scene, and he thought it would be a perfect way to just tap into another source of viewers by playing with me.”

The stream in question cracked 600,000 consecutive viewers, which is a wild feat for the platform, not to mention a lot of extra eyes on Drake, who often mentioned recording his new album, Scorpion, which is out right now. But you could also argue that Ninja himself would have benefited from the stream, with Drake fans tuning in to see what all this Fortnite hoo-ha is about. Surely he would have gained tons of subscribers from that one stream alone.

Don’t worry, though, Ninja is definitely still a Drake fan.

“He also might have just wanted to game, I’m not sure. But he’s a genius dude. I’d love to buy it but then I’d feel like very ‘fanny,’ which I am, ha. So yes, I will be buying the jacket, basically what I’m trying to say.”

Will the pair play together again? Who knows, but with a new album out in the wild, Drake will probably have to work it around his touring schedule.
