So How Much Money Has ‘The Last Jedi’ Already Made? Is It Fucken Heaps?

You might want to sit down for this one, team. It may shock you to learn that – yes, I know, it’s shocking stuff – Star Wars : The Last Jedi has made an absolute bucketload of money at the box office already.

According to Variety, the Rian Johnson-led blockbuster made $220M at the U.S. box office in its opening weekend, and $230M at the international box office – totalling a mammoth $450M worldwide total. That’s quite a bit of pocket change, if I’m honest. It just beat projections for the U.S. box office, which were already sky high at $225M.

This makes it the fifth-biggest opening of all time, behind Fate of the Furious, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Jurassic World and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. For a bit more of a local flavour, it was the 2nd biggest opening of all time here in Australia, behind The Force Awakens.

These figures don’t include China, which is a huge market but hasn’t actually seen the film yet. It’ll be released there on January 5th.

Does that answer your question? It’s fucken heaps.
