It has been an absolute ripper of a year for Millie Bobby Brown.
The 12 year-old thespian ripped everyone’s hearts to shreds with her nuanced and complex portrayal of Eleven in the hottest television series of the year, Stranger Things, and from then on, everything this gal touches goes viral (the vid of her singing Nicki Minaj‘s rap verse in ‘Monster‘ on Jimmy Fallon has clocked close to nine million hits).
It is no real surprise, then, that the tween with the acting maturity of Meryl Streep has been named IMDb‘s ‘Top breakout star of 2016.’
Every year IMDb rank their stats and suss out the most viewed actors, TV shows and movies on their site. Bobby Brown topped an impressive list of other celebs – Haley Bennett, from The Girl On The Train, came in at number two, and her Stranger Things co-star Natalia Dyer was number four.
There were a disconcerting amount of ppl on the list who can hardly be defined as breakout stars of this year – such as Brie Larson, Adam Driver and Evan Rachel Wood – but when you consider that Larson won an Oscar, Driver played Kylo Ren and Wood starred in the second hottest show of the year, Westworld, all in the past 18 months, it makes sense that their IMDb pages would have gained a lil’ more traction.
And who took the coveted spot of the overall ‘Top star’ of this year? None other than our own Margot Robbie, who continues to take the world by storm with her ridic face, Patrick Bateman impressions and casually starring in some of the most talked about movies of the year.
Congrats to all the lucky winners, but srsly – the way Millie Bobby Brown is going, I bet she’s nominated for a Golden Globe pretty darn soon.
