We Have Our 1st Pic Of Tim Burton’s ‘Dumbo’ & Jesus Christ WTF Is That

Because nobody has quite worked out that giving Tim Burton huge budgets generally results in painfully bad films, he’s been handed the reins to remake classic elephant cartoon Dumbo

It’s got a pretty solid cast – featuring Colin Farrell, Eva Green, Danny DeVito and Michael Keaton, among others – and the other Disney live-action remakes have been pretty solid, but obviously everyone’s still pretty skeptical about this one.
At this weekend’s D23 conference, audiences were given their very first glimpse of what it looks like when you turn a flying elephant with enormous ears into live-action. It is… I don’t really know what to say, really. What is that?
It’s a life-size sculpture sculpted model of what the character will ostensibly look like in the Burton film, not a finished product, but still. It looks like the stuff of nightmares. Though I guess a flying elephant kind of is the stuff of nightmares, once you really get down to the nitty-gritty.
I’m also willing to admit that this photo – a shadowed Dumbo standing in front of a wall of impenetrable darkness – is perhaps not conducive to cuteness.

I would not say adorable, though.

Ah well. It’s started production now, anyway! Good luck, Tim Burton. You will need it.
