It must be an interesting time to write for Saturday Night Live. It seems that every single day, US President-elect Donald Trump does something ridiculous or terrifying enough to warrant its own skit.
So, what’s a team of funny-makers to do when presented with the motherlode of material presented by Trump’s first press conference in months? Pack it all into a jumbo-sized cold open, that’s what.
To quote Stefon, another SNL mainstay, this one has it all: concerns over his business interests and his fake-looking legal documents; wanton claims of fake news regarding an unverified security briefing, and a lifetime’s worth of piss jokes.
Sure, it’d probably be more worthwhile to look into the alleged ties between Trump’s team and the Kremlin instead of the salacious golden shower rumours, but hell, maybe we’ll see some more of that in SNL‘s next behemoth cold open.
