For every single goofy-as-hell plotline Star Trek has ever cooked up, the sci-fi mainstay has countered with a healthy dose of pop-culture philosophy.
The latest trailer for Star Trek Beyond is no exception, no sirree. The first spot featured dirt bikes and Beastie Boys, but this one? Musings on self-discovery, the fear of death, and our pesky human need for camaraderie.
Oh, it’s still got the dirtbikes, actually. But the themes are a lil’ more prominent this time around, you dig?
Directed by Fast & Furious‘ Justin Lin and produced by J.J. Abrams, the film features Chris Pine, Karl Urban, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg, Zoe Saldana, John Cho and a burly alien Idris Elba.
Give her all she’s got when the film hits screens in July.
