WATCH: New HBO Doco Explores The Lives Of Carrie Fisher & Debbie Reynolds

A lot of people have said that 2016 was one of the worst years in recent history for celebrity deaths and a lot of people have said that it just felt that way because the celebrities that are dying were the ones we grew up with, with the truth falling somewhere in the middle – but you can’t deny it was mortifying to lose both Carrie Fisher and her mother Debbie Reynolds within a day of each other, just before the year was out.
The pair were both adored for being charming, hilarious, larger-than-life characters and, as much as death is just another part of life etc etc, if you’ll pardon my bluntness, it fucking sucked to see them go.
If you’re interested to see more of their lives or just really, really enjoy bawling your goddamn eyes out, you’re in luck, with HBO shortly releasing a documentary on the lives and relationship of the two stars.
Bright Stars‘ will explore the complex mother-daughter relationship between the two, who relied on each other for support as Reynolds aged and as Fisher struggled with bipolar disorder throughout her life – as ‘Variety‘ describes it, it “captures the essence of what they had together — not just a bond but a mother-daughter marriage. One that lasted two lifetimes.
It will be released on HBO on January 7th America time, but premieres in Australia on Foxtel on the 8th, check out the trailer below:
