WATCH: Kelsey Grammer Reveals The Origin Of His Sideshow Bob Voice

Kelsey Grammer, who portrays the villainous Sideshow Bob on The Simpsons, has a voice that’s so damn smooth and mellifluous, I’d happily just sit and listen to him reading out the dictionary.

During a recent appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Grammer explained the origin of the character. He was originally asked to be on the The Simpsons because they needed someone who could sing Cole Porter, and Bob grew from there.
It turns out that Robert Underdunk Terwilliger’s sophisticated full and rounded tones are based on those of theatre director and producer Ellis Rabb, who employed a young Kelsey Grammer as a handyman. 
We’ll assume it’s a loving tribute:
