Paul Thomas Anderson and Joaquin Phoenix last worked together on The Master, which was hailed as a balls-out cinematic masterpiece by some and a dull (albeit very pretty) slog by others. Anyway, the trailer for the pair’s new collaboration, Inherent Vice, is out today, and this one looks anything but dull.
The film, based on the novel of the same name by Thomas Pynchon, tells the story of a mutton-chopped man who gets caught up in the disappearance of a billionaire in ’60s California.
Almost every element of this trailer looks completely batshit, and we may yet have have another Big Lebowski on our hands.
