Watch: “It’s Kind Of A Funny Story” Trailer

Directed by Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden (Half Nelson), “It’s Kind Of A Funny Story” is based on the 2006 novel of the same name by Ned Vizzini. Marshall Gregson (who you might recognise as Toni Collette’s awesome gay son in The United States of Tara) plays 16-year-old Craig who checks himself into a psychiatric ward. What follows are a series of encounters and relationships that soon influence the way he thinks about life, love and growing up. Like all movies set in psychiatric institutions it should be full of mental illness gags, group chanting and a creepy silent character.

Zach Galifianakis also stars and Broken Social Scene contribute to the score.

“It’s Kind Of A Funny Story” will be released in the US on September 24.
