We live in a world where even the spiritual successors to The Blair Witch Project have become their own tentpole franchises, so you’d be forgiven if you thought studios would hold off on revitalising the OG tale in 2016.
Especially when production on the actually-real and upcoming Blair Witch was hidden under the working title of The Woods for so dang long. Chalk this one up as a victory for whatever the opposite of viral marketing is.
Anyway, in another display of boggling Comic-Con wonderment, the first official trailer for the new sequel dropped. It bears all the hallmarks of its 1999 predecessor, so shaky cam fans, you have been given permission to froth.
Expect to get some stark, overexposed looks at terrified faces when the film drops in September:
