Tweets About A Stripper’s Roadtrip Are Dictating James Franco’s Next Film

So remember that insane Twitter story that went viral last year, the one about a Hooters employee’s road trip to Florida that involved strippers, pimps, a leap from a fourth-story window and a murder?

Well, it’s legit getting made into a movie.

Ever since Rolling Stone picked up the story of Aziah “Zola” Wells – dubbed by her followers as the “queen of hoeism” – and her 148-tweet epic, rumours of a potential film have been circulating.

Well, it’s now happening fuh real, and guess who’s directing? James bloody Franco.

#TheStory, as it became known on Twitter, follows the tale of Zola’s road trip last October with her “white bitch” friend Jessica, Jessica’s boyfriend Jarrett, and Jessica’s violent pimp “Z“, and is essentially about sex trafficking.

There were a few inconsistencies between the Twitter tale and the real thing, as Rolling Stone journalist David Kushner uncovered, but not a lot. “The real story behind #TheStory, of how young girls and women are held against their will by sex traffickers, is more fucked up and unconscionable than any one person could invent,” he wrote.
Still, for reasons of factual accuracy, the film is going to be based more on the article that the Twitter stream. Kushner said the script “reads like ‘Spring Breakers‘ meets ‘Pulp Fiction‘, as told by Nicki Minaj; so, basically, what we’re working with here is a cult classic in the making.
Honestly, if you’ve got a spare 30 minutes and need to refresh your memory / experience it for the first time, this is damn worth a read: ‘Zola Tells All: The Real Story Behind The Greatest Stripper Saga Ever Tweeted‘. Word.
