Ten messages. Three years. Two Tinderonis. One trip to Hawaii. Not quite zero chemistry, but near enough.
That’s the easiest way to categorise the saga of Michelle Arendas and Josh Avsec, two US uni students who intermittently messaged each other on Tinder for years before being catapulted to social media fame.
Hahahaha one day I'm going to meet this girl and it's going to be epic. Look at the dates of our tinder texts. pic.twitter.com/DASQK4c5cX

When Good Morning America stumbled across their already-viral story, the show introduced ’em live on air, and promised them an all-expenses paid trip to the lushest of the American states.
That date came to pass, and GMA had inside access. Folks, the resulting footage is indisputable proof that sometimes, you should just let your memes be dreams, because the reality is all too ordinary for us to bear.
After spending some time sinking fruity cocktails and going on a bike ride around their resort – and, crucially, spending time in separate rooms – Arendas reported that she was sure their paths would cross again back at Kent State uni.
That’s as noncommittal as you can get while sitting directly next to the fella on whom an entire planet has pinned their hopes and dreams. We demanded more of this saga, and all we’re left with is a vague mutual appreciation. Bleh.
Watch the clip for yourself, you emotionally-ravenous lot.
