With the entertainment prognosticators, red carpet arrivals and Moet-soaked pageantry of the Oscars kick-starting the very serious business of handing out gold plated eunuch statuettes to the best films, actors and filmmakers of the year, it seems appropriate to now reflect on the worst. And weren’t they just? This year’s always on the money Razzie Awards – think heavy handed direction, plot hole ridden screenplays and the performances and actors who most resembled a large wooden door – has ordained Twilight: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 as the worst feature film of the year. The final installment of the supernatural teen franchise took out seven awards including Worst Film, Worst Actress (Kristen Stewart), Worst Supporting Actor (Taylor Lautner), Worst Onscreen Couple (Taylor Lautner and Mackenzie Foy), Worst Screen Ensemble and Worst Director (Bill Condon).
A golden raspberry sweep was denied by future Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Adam Sandler who took home Worst Actor and Worst Screenplay gongs for That’s My Boy. Rihanna took home Worst Supporting Actress for her feature film debut in Battleship. Congratulations to everyone. You were all fucking terrible.
