TMZ is currently reporting that Amber Heard has filed for divorce from Johnny Depp, citing irreconcilable differences. They married last year in February – a decision clearly made without knowing that they would be confronted with the grim reality of Australian biosecurity laws and the firm, just hand of Barnaby Joyce.
Depp’s mother passed away on Friday, and TMZ alleges the divorce papers note the separation occurred two days after that.
Of course, this is TMZ: they’ve had a streak of huge and unflinchingly accurate scoops of late, but they also publish a lot of bullshit gossip. They claim they got their hands on the papers, but who knows.
What we do know is this: this particular marriage and divorce have a powerful, biosecurity-related resonance here in Australia. Also known: Barnaby finds justice, once way or another.
