Academy Award-winner Colman, who replaces Claire Foy as Queen Elizabeth II in the third season, helped unveil the release date on The Crown‘s socials overnight. It really is just a 21-second announcement video but in it, Colman / The Queen looks at you and it genuinely gave me goosebumps.

News of the November release isn’t exactly a surprise, given Tobias Menzies went rogue and casually announced it in an interview last month. Although he only revealed the premiere month, not the actual date. Menzies – who plays that piece of shit in Outlander – takes over Matt Smith‘s role as Prince Philip.
Season 3 of The Crown flashes forward to the years of and between 1964 and 1977, and co-stars the wonderful Helena Bonham Carter (take your pick of movie) as Princess Margaret, replacing Vanessa Kirby; Gillian Anderson (The Fall) as Margaret Thatcher; Emerald Fennell (Call the Midwife) as Camilla Parker Bowles, Ben Daniels (The Exorcist series) as Tony Armstrong-Jones, replacing my husband Matthew Goode; Josh O’Conner (Les Misérables, the BBC series) as Prince Charles; Erin Doherty (Les Misérables, the BBC series) as Princess Anne; Marion Bailey (All or Nothing) as The Queen Mother; Jason Watkins (Line of Duty) as Prime Minister Harold Wilson; and newcomer Emma Corrin as Diana Spencer, Princess of Wales.
The Crown season 3 hits Netflix November 17. Christ, it feels good to type that.
