The 2017 Emmy Nominations Are Here & Just Give Donald Glover Everything TBH

The full list of 2017 Emmy Awards nominees has landed, and Donald Glover, The Handmaid’s Tale, and basically everyone even tangentially involved with Saturday Night Live are all goddamn cheering.

Atlanta writer, director, and star Glover has been nominated in all three of those categories, and his slow-burning, richly-realised project is also up for Best Comedy. Not a bad showing, by any bloody means.
On the other end of the entertainment spectrum, the harrowing The Handsmaid’s Tale could pick up a slew of awards. Not only is it in the running for Best Drama Series, but the incredible Elizabeth Moss, Ann Dowd, and Samira Wiley are all in the mix for acting nods.
The nominations also recognise dystopian series’ direction, production design, and costume design. It’d be an absolute travesty if they didn’t, tbh.
In a year dominated where the media was dominated by the actions of Donald Trump, the Emmys have given the show’s major players and behind-the-scenes crew some serious props. Yes, that includes Alec Baldwin as El Jefe himself.
Also, Black Mirror has been well and truly acknowledged for its best episode yet, San Junipero. Heaven is a place on Earth, baby.

There are a couple of notable omissions: The Leftovers missed out in its final outing. Also, this is just one writer’s opinion, but Louis Herthum – whose twitching, corrupted face set the tone for the entirety of Westworld – has been robbed.
