Taking to social media, stars of the Avengers films including Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Tom Holland, and Josh Brolin gave respect to the writer, editor and publisher.

Other stars who have helped immortalise roles created by Lee, including Hugh Jackman, Ryan Reynolds, and Ant-Man director Edgar Wright, have also spoken about his lasting impact.

His legacy has been recognised by legends outside of the Marvel Entertainment universe, too. Millie Bobby Brown, Mark Hamill, and scores of other creative stars have spoken about Lee’s powerful impact on pop culture.

In a statement, Bob Iger, CEO of Marvel Entertainment’s parent company The Walt Disney Company, said that as a “super hero in his own right to Marvel fans around the world, Stan had the power to inspire, to entertain, and to connect. The scale of his imagination was only exceeded by the size of his heart.”

A banner on Marvel’s website recognises the company’s chairman emeritus, too.

Expect more luminaries to express Lee’s impact on their lives in the hours, days, and years to come.
