Spoiler Free Observations From ‘The Dark Knight Rises’

Like thousands of other people, Pedestrian Jobs editor (who also happens to be a walking talking one-woman nerd convention) Claire went to the cinema for opening night of The Dark Knight Rises. But unlike the majority of those thousands Claire booked in to watch a three-movie marathon of the entire Christopher Nolan Batman series in chronological order. It finished at 3am. Here is her take on the final chapter of Nolan’s trilogy, which she dug deep to come up with because she is visibly delirious. **Please note that no spoilers are revealed in the following observations.

CLAIRE: I smashed out a Batman Marathon and watched the first two right before seeing the third. Highly recommend. There’s a moment in The Dark Knight when you’ll be like, “shit, this movie! Wish I didn’t have to wait for the next one… SIKE! – IT WILL BE ON STRAIGHT AFTER I FINISH ENJOYING THIS.” Which is the best.

Anne Hathaway actually pulled it off. In other news, she is a fit lady. Can get distracted by her being such a super tight package in her cat lady spandex. Can happen.

Gotham is totally like the Bad Luck Brian of cities. Just CANNOT catch a break.

Tom Hardy did an amazing job of (getting buff) playing Bane. Despite having his pretty face mostly covered 🙁

Why isn’t Morgan Freeman cast in every role ever? His freckles are better actors than 95.6% of Hollywood.

A LOT happens in this, the thrilling conclusion (!), you will probably need a Batnap immediately afterwards on account of being severely over-stimulated.

The fact that Heath Ledger would have had a part in this, had he been alive, will get to you. I had magical dreams last night about what it would have been like. Findings: NEXT LEVEL.

Try not to compare it to the other two films too much. But if you must, be fair. Remember that they each have their own parts to play for the greater good of the Trilogy.

To the critics smearing out bad reviews: I’m not going to threaten you with death…but you were clearly not meant to board the Batman Train. Please, just leave.

Thank you Christopher Nolan sir. You are the hero Batman deserved AND needed.

The Dark Knight Rises is now out in Australian cinemas.
