The Millennium Falcon is parked on Hollywood Boulevard right now which means only one thing: A Star Wars premiere. And not just any Star Wars film but the origin story of one, Han Solo.

Solo: A Star Wars Story,  directed by Ron Howard, tells us just how our favourite smuggler met co-pilot Chewbacca and crossed paths with Lando Calrissian played by the much beloved Donald Glover. And based off of critics’ first reactions, Donald is copping a lot of love.

The film also stars Alden Ehrenreich as the man himself, Emilia Clarke as Qi’Ra, Paul Bettany as Dryden Vos, Thandie Newton as Val, Woody Harrelson as Tobias Beckett, Joonas Suotamo as Chewy, and Jon Favreau as Rio Durant.

The majority of critics do inform that like the Millennium Falcon in its golden years, the film takes a little while to take off but once it does, it absolutely flies which is fucking exciting to say the least.

Critics also absolutely praised TF outta the cast for doing a fantastic job, especially Alden, the man with the toughest job in the movie – pulling off a young Harrison Ford.

But according to the reviews, he does the job and that warms my heart a lot.

As for the lucky viewers at the premiere, they had this to say:

So mixed, but seemingly enjoyable.

And Emilia Clarke looked amazing:

Solo: A Star Wars Story will hit Aussie cinemas May 24.

…and yes, depending on how invested you are in Star Wars, this could very much be another case of The Last Jedi where the reviews were overwhelmingly positive while the film itself, was up for debate.
