Selena Gomez Posts Cryptic Message Before Making Her Instagram Private

Selena Gomez has made her Instagram private after posting a cryptic message that seemed to slam her recent Billboard interview.

“Never will I let another human guess my words ever again,” she wrote on her Instagram stories, over a screenshot of a paragraph from the Billboard cover story. “Or invite them in my home. That is so hurtful. The most ‘ridiculous’ part of that is no one knowing my heart when I say things.”

Selena – who remains the most followed person on Instagram, with 130 million followers – was referencing the recent Billboard interview that named her ‘Woman of the Year‘.

The paragraph in question is below:

There’s a five-foot teddy bear sprawled across the kitchen floor in Selena Gomez’s North Hollywood home. “I know, I know,” says Gomez, rolling her eyes, acknowledging that the stuffed animal doesn’t quite blend with the trio of armchairs nestled in the inviting, marble-accented nook. “It was a gift, and at first I thought, ‘This is so ridiculous, I can’t wait until I give it away to another person.’”

She had posted about the Billboard cover and award just days before, thanking the publication the honour and “for the event you held for women.”

Fans remain confused, but are also pointing to an Instagram story from the day before when Selena said she needed “some alone time”.

Earlier this year, Selena revealed to Vogue that the Instagram app wasn’t even on her phone, with her assistant having the password instead. She said it was part of her plan to protect her mental health

“As soon as I became the most followed person on Instagram, I sort of freaked out,” she said. “It had become so consuming to me. It’s what I woke up to and went to sleep to. I was an addict, and it felt like I was seeing things I didn’t want to see, like it was putting things in my head that I didn’t want to care about. I always end up feeling like shit when I look at Instagram. Which is why I’m kind of under the radar, ghosting it a bit.”
