Blake Lively & Ryan Reynolds Give $1M (And A Lil’ Laughter) To Those In Need Amid COVID-19

Much adored couple Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds have announced a $1 million donation to those in need amid the coronavirus pandemic.

In a joint statement, the couple said the hefty donation will be split between Feeding America and Food Banks Canada, writing, “Covid-19 has brutally impacted older adults and low income families.”

“If you can give, these orgs need our help,” they said.

But in typical Ryan x Blake fashion, each statement was accompanied by a gentle roasting. Reynolds used the opportunity to leak long time rival / best mate Hugh Jackman‘s very real number.

“Take care of your bodies and hearts,” Reynolds wrote. “Leave room for joy. Call someone who’s isolated and might need connection.”

And in brackets, he added, “Hugh Jackman’s # is 1-555-[sad face emoji]-HUGH”.

Classic gag.

Lively instead took a jab at her husband. She encouraged all those in self-quarantine to stay connected and to think of the lonely and isolated.

“Remember the love that can travel through all of this. Communities are stepping up – shopping for the elderly, making lunches for children. We can all do something for one another, even if if that’s simply staying home,” she wrote.

“Sending so much love. Now can someone please tell Ryan that ’emotional distancing’ from his mother-in-law is not a thing. Nothing can save him,” she added.

Meanwhile, people around the country are taking part in the #viralkindness campaign, where postcards with the message “Hello! If you are self-isolating, I can help” are dropped off at doorsteps.

The idea comes from Cornwall lecturer Becky Wass who told Cornwall Live: “If just one person feels less lonely or isolated when faced with the pandemic, then I’ll feel better about it. Coronavirus is scary. Let’s make kindness go viral.”

All you have to do is print out the template, fill it in, and drop it off at a neighbour’s door.
