Prepare Your Emotions, A ‘Friday Night Lights’ Musical Is Coming

Thanks to The O.C., Legally Blonde, American Psycho, Cruel Intentions an the rest, the list of beloved TV shows and films that haven’t been turned into musicals is probably shorter at this point.
Be that as it may, there’s now one more to add to the pile – the high school football drama and feelings-fest that is Friday Night Lights, which is making its way to the stage next year.

In what may or may not be a massive casting coup, depending on your perspective, one of the original cast members from the TV show has even signed on to star.
That person would be Scott Porter, who played Jason Street in the original series, and will now be portraying Coach Taylor, the role made famous by Kyle Chandler.
Molly McCook, who appeared in the musical versions of The O.C. and Cruel Intentions, will play Tyra Collette, the role originated by Adrianne Palicki. There’s no word yet on whether Amy Schumer has been approached to portray Mrs Coach.

The musical has received the official blessing of NBC Universal to go ahead, and while there are no more details in terms of when, where or how long it will run, we’ll eagerly await every scrap of news about it.
