Donald Glover And Phoebe Waller-Bridge Are Rebooting Mr & Mrs Smith As An Amazon Show

Phoebe Waller-Bridge

Two of your faves, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Donald Glover, have announced that they will be joining forces and working together on a Mr & Mrs Smith TV series for Amazon.

They revealed the news earlier today in a cryptic Instagram story, to a soundtrack of the 1950s tune Put Your Head On My Shoulder, announcing that the show is coming in 2022.

While little else is known at this time, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Donald Glover are set to create and star, while Francesca Sloane of Fargo and Atlanta will serve as co-creator and showrunner.

The series is set to be based on the 2005 Doug Liman film, in which Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie played a married couple who had no idea that they were also rival spies.

This will not be the first attempt to adapt Mr & Mrs Smith for television. In 2006, Liman and writer Simon Kinberg created a pilot, starring Jordana Brewster and Kiwi actor Martin Henderson.

That pilot was never picked up, although given the star power of Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Donald Glover, and her existing overall deal with Amazon,we can only assume this series will be more fruitful.

This is not the first time the pair have worked together. They first crossed paths in Solo: A Star Wars Story, in which Glover played Lando Calrissian and Waller-Bridge played the droid known as L3-37.
