OK, BUT WHY: Warner Bros. Have Announced A Rom-Com Based On Tinder

Remember the 1998 romantic comedy ‘You’ve Got Mail‘ where Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks fall in love over email? Remember how it dated terribly because email dating was a thing for, like, 2 seconds and absolutely no one does that anymore?

Well apparently Hollywood doesn’t: ‘Worst Tinder Date Ever‘ is a movie in development about a couple who go on a Tinder date and have a bunch of mishaps occur to them.
It will be written by Keith Merryman and David A Newman, two of the writers behind ‘Friends With Benefits‘, a film that also tried and failed to understand modern dating by reading a few buzzwords and writing a script about it.
The producers behind it are Denise Di Novi and Alison Greenspan, who have also worked together on ‘Sisterhood Of The Travelling Pants‘ and the utterly, utterly bizarre 2004 ‘Catwoman‘ with Halle Berry.
I’ve got a hunch this will actually be really good and not at all completely terrible. Just kidding, this is going to be a bucket full of cheesy dicks. Not indication yet of when it will come out, but hopefully we’re all long dead when it does.
Side note: did you remember that Dave Chapelle was in ‘You’ve Got Mail’? Because I sure as fuck didn’t.
