As reported by Variety, Nickelodeon is using the new Hey Arnold! movie to at last answer a very important question that dominated the series: what happened to Arnold’s parents? Their whereabouts have always been a mystery, or even if they’re dead or alive; Hey Arnold! touched on some pretty dark topics.

In the final episode, Arnold found a journal by his father, and according to a very reliable source we found – Yahoo Answers – the 2002 Hey Arnold! movie hinted that his parents may be alive and well and off exploring the world. Could they be… Nigel and Marianne Thornberry?? And if so, why did they abandon him? Did his head scare them off? These are questions Nickelodeon must answer.
Although they might not get to it for a while. Nickelodeon is keeping quiet on when the Hey Arnold! movie will come out, but Russell Hicks, president, content development and production for Nickelodeon Group, said that the new shows ‘in general’ are for the current audience of young Nickheads.
“You have to make it relevant to them but also nod to the audience that is going to be interested,” he said.
