Netflix Is Doing An El Chapo Series, Ne’er A Mention Of A Sean Penn Cameo

Netflix will soon deliver you some  HOT  NEW  TRUE  CRIME  CONTENT , in the shape of a drama series about the life of notorious drug lord and interviewee of Sean Penn, Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman.
Netflix knows that true crime is ~what they do best~ now, after their exclusive ‘Making A Murderer’ series about Stephen Avery went gangbusters last year – a huge handful of US television channels consequently commissioned their own true crime series’ to compete against the streaming giant.
Netflix and Univision Story House will be producing the series, which will be available to Netflix subscribers in the U.S. after its first airing on UniMas in 2017. In the rest of the world, episodes of El Chapo will premiere exclusively on Netflix.
“We are thrilled to partner with the award-winning Univision Story House on the timely and globally relevant drama series based on the life story of El Chapo,” added Netflix’s chief content officer Ted Sarandos.
We’d say this might be ever-so-slightly less bonkers than Sean Penn‘s bizarre interview with the wanted criminal when he escaped from jail last year, which was titled ‘El Chapo & Sean Penn: Bungle in the Jungle‘. (Thank god.)
