David Fincher Confirms ‘Mindhunter’ S2 Will Finally Hit Netflix Next Month

In an interview on KCRW podcast The Treatment, mastermind filmmaker / co-executive producer David Fincher discussed the highly anticipated second part.

“I guess I’m allowed to say it, yeah it’s going to be the 16th,” Fincher said in the opening minutes of the interview. It’s done. Lock it in. Clear the entirety of August, Mindhunter season two is finally happening. AUGUST 16. That’s just a little over a month away.

Back in May, co-executive producer Charlize Theron hinted that the second season would drop in August but she didn’t reveal the exact date.

Part of season two’s story will focus on the horrific Atlanta Child Killings, a series of murders committed in the years 1979 to May of 1981. Mitchell, who has already seen the entirety of season two, obviously couldn’t say much but he did tease that the acting is good as hell.

Mindhunter is based on retired FBI agent John E. Douglas‘ novel Mindhunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unitco-written by Mark Olshaker.

In the Netflix adaptation, viewers watch FBI special agents Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff) and Bill Tench (Holt McCallany) track down and study serial killers with the help of psychology professor Dr. Wendy Carr (Anna Torv).

A lot of season one focused on the disturbed “Co-ed Killer” Edmund Kemper. The American serial killer murdered ten people, including his mother and paternal grandparents, between the years 1964 and 1973. The actor who portrayed him, Cameron Britton, was very successful in freaking a lot of people out.

It’s been over a year and this still rules.

Good, good, good.
