For most people, leaving your teenage years behind and entering your 20s is a time to proudly declare “WOOOAH I’m an ADULT”, before smashing their phone screen and/or puking. It ain’t pretty, but it is what it is.
For Lorde, however, turning twenty is a time to reflect on the profound influence of teenagerhood on your art, and ponder the changes to come on the next stage of your life.
She posted a status that’s essentially goddamn poetry, and it ended with this:

Guests of the intimate dinner soiree included Taylor Swift, Karlie Kloss, Aziz Ansari, Tavi Gevinson and Lena Dunham, plus Kiwi mates from home. Don’t forget your roots, ya know?
