Kim K Sues Gossip Website That Claimed She Faked Robbery For Insurance $$$

Well, who could have seen this coming (*eye roll*): Kim Kardashian is suing a gossip website that posted a series of articles claiming she faked the entire Paris robbery to commit insurance fraud.

Beginning literally hours after the incident occurred, MediaTakeOut.com published a series of since-deleted articles claiming to have evidence she staged the entire thing.

“New Evidence Suggests . . . Kim Kardashian ‘STAGED’ The Robbery . . . Just Like RYAN LOCHTE!! (Here Are TheFACTS) #KimRobbery”. the first one read, despite – as claimed by lawsuit – the only “evidence” MTO could provide was people discussing the incident on social media.

“French Authorities SUSPECT Kim Kardashian Of ‘LYING’. . . Suspect That She Is The One . . . Who ‘LET THE ROBBERS IN’!!!”, the second read, but again could not back it up the lawsuit claims, being unable to identify any of said authorities.

And the third and final article straight-up called Kim a criminal. “Kim Kardashian Just Filed An INSURANCE CLAIM . . . For $5.6 MILLION!!(If She Faked The Robbery. . . She Just Committed a FEDERAL CRIME)” it read, which is basically like waving a red fucking flag to the Kardashians’ legal team.

“After having been the victim of a horrific and traumatic armed robbery in France, Kim Kardashian returned to the United States only to again be victimised, but this time by an online gossip tabloid that published a series of articles in early October 2016 referring to her a liar and thief,” said her attorney Andrew Brettler in a complaint filed to the New York federal court on Tuesday.

“Kardashian was assaulted and robbed by two masked men, who placed a gun to her head, duct-taped her hands, legs and mouth, and then left her lying helplessly on the bathroom floor of her rented apartment while the thieves absconded with millions of dollars in jewellery. As if that ordeal were not awful enough, Defendants made it worse by publishing on the Website, only hours after the assault, that Kardashian faked the robbery and then committed insurance fraud by filing a false claim with her carrier.”

He says that as a result of these articles, Kim has suffered “general and special damages in an amount not presently known to her”, but which includes shame, mortification, hurt feelings, embarrassment, humiliation and damages to her reputation.
The lawsuit claims MTO ignored repeated requests to take down the articles and issue a retraction and apology.

Kim’s now seeking general, special, punitive and exemplary damages.
