Jude Law Is Dumbledore In ‘Fantastic Beasts’ 2 And JFC, Imagine The Beard

Jude Law has been chosen to play Dumbledore in the upcoming Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them sequel, and we’re dead keen to see a little Alfie in ol’ mate Albus.

The English silver screen mainstay will don the robes (and, shit, can you imagine the beard) to represent the wizard’s time before taking over as Hogwarts’ headmaster. Yes, pals, this means you’re going to see his earlier work as the school’s transfiguration professor.

Director David Yates, who helmed the first film in the planned five-strong franchise, will also return for the sequel. On Law, he says “I know he will brilliantly capture all the unexpected facets of Albus Dumbledore as J.K. Rowling reveals this very different time in his life.”

Variety reports that before settling on Law, Warner Bros. Pictures considered Christian Bale, Benedict Cumberbatch and even Jared Harris – son of the OG on-screen Dumbledore Richard Harris – for the storied role.

The flick is scheduled to arrive in the States on November 16, 2018.
