It didn’t happen over night but it feels as though all of a sudden Sesame Street is to celebrity appearances what the hibiscus tree is to Phytophthora. The pulling power is testament to the genius of the Children’s Television Workshop – the writing is amazingly clever and funny and is geared as much to adults as it is to kids (case in point: recent parodies of ‘Mad Men’ and ‘True Blood’, among others). A mother I know says she fights her little tackers for the remote control when it’s time for “Ses”.
