Is Family Guy Going To Bring Back The Character They Killed Off?

Warning: Spoilers Ahead!

In news that is likely to appease the 125,000 people upset enough about the death of a fictional dog on a show way past its prime to sign a petition demanding his return, incite smug smiles in those who called it as a publicity stunt, and really annoy the guy who did this, it seems that after his untimely death the November 24 episode of Family Guy, Brian the dog is likely to return to our screens.

Multiple clues point to Brian’s literal and literary reanimation. Executive Producer Steve Callaghan reportedly told Entertainment Weekly back in October about an upcoming episode in which Bridesmaids actress Maya Rudolph will be voicing a character who Brian falls for, and the logline for this season’s Christmas special (slated to air December 15) reads “Stewie devises a master plan to get the one and only thing he wants for Christmas,” and reportedly lists Brian’s name in the cast of characters.

Brian was hit by a car and buried by the Griffin family in the episode titled The Life Of Brian, and was replaced by a new dog called Vinnie after Stewie was unable to repair his time machine and travel back in time to save his sophisticated canine friend. If Brian does come back, here’s hoping there’s more to it than “Like that time Brian died in one episode and then we brought him back to life with no explanation a few episodes later.”
