It’s brooding, angular, and spectacularly lit – hell, it even makes mention of the light in its name – so if you guessed The Neon Demon is the latest creation of neo-noir revivalist / Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn, you’re bloody spot on.
Speaking of bloody spots, the film’s trailer shows off fresh-faced Elle Fanning spilling the red stuff as an aspiring model. It’s a bit Black Swan, a bit Invisible Monsters, and totally slick in Refn’s characteristically intense style.
If the strobes don’t distract you, you might even notice Christina Hendricks, Keanu Reeves, Jena Malone and Abbey Lee Kershaw skulking around the background. It’s all very predatory, but maybe that’s the point.
Anwyay, the flick drops at Cannes before rolling out in June. Watch:
