Hugh Jackman Officially Announces His Retirement As Wolverine

It’s official – with the release of Wolverine 3 in 2017, Hugh Jackman will get his claws out for the very last time.

The Aussie actor has had one hell of a good run, appearing as the mutant character in seven films so far, starting with Bryan Singer‘s X-Men in 2000, and including a number of his own recent spin-offs.
Per reports in Time, Jackman recently confirmed to Dr. Oz, of all people, that he is officially done with Wolverine. “This will be my last one. It’s my last time,” he said.
“It felt like it was the right time to do it,” he continued. “I never thought in a million years it would last this long, so I’m grateful to the fans for the opportunity of playing it.”

While as-yet unconfirmed, it is rumoured that Jackman will appear in next year’s X-Men: Apocalypse, which will mark the final appearance of Jennifer Lawrence as the shape-shifting Mystique.
Jackman’s diet, exercise and supplement routine is pretty intense, so we can’t say we blame the guy for choosing this point to bow out.
Wolverine 3 is to be directed by James Mangold. Plot details are not yet known, but Jackman said: “I kind of have in my head what we’re going to do in this last one. It just feels like this is the perfect way to go out.”
