H&M Unveil Plans for Huge Sydney Flagship Store

H&M‘s Australian expansion continues in a big way, with the announcement this weekend that the Swedish clothing giant have picked a location for their Sydney megastore.
The Sydney Morning Herald report that, in mid-2015, the company will open a three level, 5000 square metre store in Pitt Street’s Glasshouse Centre. Affordable fashion for all!
It has also been confirmed that H&M will bring its Alexander Wang collaborative collection to Australia, and it will be available in their Macquarie Centre store, which opens in North Ryde on October 16.
The Alexander Wang collection will also be available in Melbourne, and H&M Australia manager Hans Andersson says that both outlets will have it on sale in November, which is a big deal, because not everyone gets it, so you’d better be appreciative.
Regarding your current clothing situation, Andersson is not mad at you, he’s just a bit disappointed, and wants you to dress better. “We deliver the latest fashion but from what I understand the Australian market has been receiving trends one season too late,” he said.
“It has to change; as retailers we have to do better. Especially in a city such as Sydney, which has world-class restaurants, yet the shopping is not up to the same standard.”
H&M’s Melbourne store, which opened in Melbourne in April of this year, has proved a massive success for the company, and on some weekends, there is still a line to get into the 1200-capacity building.
Andersson said that the men’s department does particularly well in Melbourne, and as such, Sydney customers can expect to see a particular emphasis on “fashion-forward menswear” and workout gear.
