HBO’s New Mini-Series About Chernobyl Now Has An Extremely Terrifying Trailer

The Chernobyl disaster of 1986 was one of the most catastrophic tragedies of modern history. The radioactive explosion at the Chernobyl power plant in the Ukraine led to toxic material spreading across Russia, Scandinavia, western Europe and Belarus. Now, HBO is tackling the story in a five-part miniseries, and the trailer is finally here.

The series looks set to cover the global reaction to the disaster – and some suss cover-ups and information lockdown. It stars Jared Harris as Valery Legaslov, a Soviet nuclear physicist who was in charge of finding out what caused the explosion. He’s alongside big names like Emily Watson and Stellan Skarsgård.

The series was directed by Johan Renck, who worked on Breaking Bad, and exec produced by Carolyn Strauss (Game of Thrones) and Jane Featherstone (Broadchurch). Those are some top-notch credentials there.

The series premieres May 6 on HBO. I for one will absolutely be tuning in.
